What is the Waterford Greenway?
The Waterford Greenway is a walking and cycle route built on the disused Waterford to Dungarvan Railway, which was originally constructed in the 1870’s and ceased use in the 1960’s. You will ride through history, from the Viking and Norman sites to the War of Independence. On the Greenway you can view it all. You will use some stunning pieces of civil engineering, tall viaducts, curved viaducts, tunnels and bridges (including a purpose built, double level, cow bridge). You will see the natural wonders of a meandering river bank, mountain views and the spectacular Waterford coast line.
